Montessori School of Covington (MSC) is a nonprofit school which fosters independent learning through a prepared environment with specially designed materials, community service, and multicultural awareness. Currently, MSC serves students aged 3 through eighth grade.

Our MISSION

The mission of Montessori School of Covington (MSC) is to build an enriching partnership in the community by providing families with an authentic and accredited curriculum founded on the education philosophy of Dr. Maria Montessori. We strive to provide a learning environment tailored to enhance the child's physical, intellectual, emotional, and social development. We are concerned with the child's individual growth and potential.

It is our goal to give our children a basis for strong character and moral development, happiness, and fulfillment, thus encouraging harmony and courage.

Our HISTORY

1990

Seeing a gap in our common educational system, our founder - Jane Moon - created an opportunity for children to learn through hands-on works, absorb through subject mastery, and thrive through mastery based on the Montessori Method. Jane co-founded "Montessori Children's Cottage" offering learning opportunities for a Montessori education.

2000

This start-up concept in Covington outgrew its rented space and purchased property in the newly-developed Clark's Grove neighborhood, near downtown Covington where it has grown ever since! The new school building provided room for classroom size expansion (while still small and personal), materials storage, and an opportunity for a full staff to teach grades (1st - 8th) as well as employing 2 sets of head and assistant teachers for the Early Childhood classrooms; the school offered curriculum from  Early Childhood through 8th grade.


2010

Montessori School of Covington became Bright From The Start certified with a full curriculum and trained Montessori staff for the Early Childhood age group!


2020-PRESENT

MSC celebrated 30 years of community engagement and Montessori education in 2020.  1,500 students have been provided a Montessori-based education since our school's inception in 1990.
