The Montessori School of Covington was founded to embrace, enhance and empower students from ages 3 years old and up!

25+ years of impact

1,500 students who have been provided a Montessori-based education since our school's inception in 1990. Seeing a gap in our common educational system, our founder - Jane Moon - created an opportunity for children to learn through hands-on works, absorb through subject mastery, and thrive through mastery based on the Montessori Method.


In 2000, this start-up concept in Covington outgrew its rented space and purchased property in Clark's Grove neighborhood, near downtown Covington where it has grown ever since! The new school building provided room for classroom size expansion (while still small and personal), materials storage, and an opportunity for a full staff to teach ages 3 through grade 8.


In 2010, Montessori School of Covington became Bright From The Start certified with full curriculums and trained Montessori staff for this age group!


Annually, all teachers and assistant teachers attend a Montessori Conference in which they are introduced to new methods and creative curricula based on Maria Montessori's methodology.


Daily (since 1990), we strive to provide an environment for students to learn, grow, share, and master their knowledge!

integrated grade levels

Unlike traditional public and private school settings, the Montessori School of Covington (just like most Montessori systems) combines grade stages. Learning in an environment of mixed-aged classes provides an opportunity for natural progression, and mastery of subject matter and eliminates the propensity competition.

  • Natural Progression: students are encouraged to work methodically through "works" which establishes their ability to move on when ready. Each activity builds on the previous one and contains a new skill set.
  • Mastery of Subject matter: fully comprehending a task or an assignment translates into teaching others how to do them. We celebrate mastery and look forward to students exemplifying their abilities.
